Mark Thierfelder
Jazz Musician/Composer
      Mark Thierfelder is a native of Milwaukee, WI and began his musical studies on trumpet at age 12. While attending Hamilton High School in Sussex, WI he won outstanding jazz soloist awards at numerous Wisconsin jazz festivals, as well as the John Phillips Sousa award. While attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison he studied jazz with jazz legend Richard Davis, and trumpet with Donald Whitaker and John Alley. He performed with both Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and Madison Symphony Orchestra during his college tenure.
      Some of his strongest musical influences include, but are not limited to, Gene Harris, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Green, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jimmy Smith, Clifford Brown, Herbie Hancock, Louis Armstrong, Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, J.S. Bach, Igor Stravinsky, and Gustav Mahler.
       Mark has had a busy career as a freelance commercial musician,  studio musician, arranger, composer, educator, musical director and jazz artist since 1981. He has played in  venues throughout the U.S., Canada, Asia, South America and the Caribbean. He has been the house pianist at numerous 4 and 5 star properties, a musical director and guest entertainer for various cruise lines, shows and productions, and the leader of his own jazz groups for 30 years. 
      Mark currently performs in many different venues, and with various ensembles in Milwaukee, Chicago and throughout the U.S. . He is the keyboardist and musical director for his wife, vocalist Janet O'Mahony.
